A Town Called Eureka

Small Town. Big Secret.

Not my favorite episode, I will admit.

So Thorn wasn't really a bad person after all, just going about things the wrong way. Am I the only one who had the odd revelation a few episodes ago that she was older than she looked and had been in Eureka back then? Not very surprising. Overall though, the catastrophe of the week wasn't too bad.

But Allison's pregnancy was. Sorry, it just seems cliche, which isn't a theme I'd like to see creeping into Eureka too much. And where is Kevin? I spotted him in "I Do Over", but otherwise, he's been absent. Now another kid? And another pregnancy to a single mom?

It may turn out alright depending on how they play their cards. Between Lexi's twins and Allison's kid, you'll have three little babies. Three pudgy little ham-shaped people crawling around Eureka's geniuses, and Jack, could prove pretty amusing.

Have you read the recent post on Eureka Unscripted? I can't remember if it's there or on Eric's blog where they explain why there are two pregnancies. Basically, Sally's pregnant in RL and they have to work it in. They were going to throw in a twist, but the network vetoed it.

I think they did a good job considering they were writing while filming.

And yes, I thin the whole Thorn thing was easy to figure out about two episodes back.

Ah, no, I hadn't heard that! Well that's a relief. I was afraid they were going soap-opera on us for a minute there! Hahah, I should expect better, but after all the bad news in my other fandoms, my expectations have been set pretty low.

Personally, I felt that the episode was pretty dark. I know that they couldn't trap someone in a bubble or anything with three over aged bodies, but still somehow it seemed too dark for its theme song. Oh, well. I hope they go back to happyzone next episode.

I was a bit "meh" about the idea of her being pregnant myself, but upon hearing that Salli's pregnant in real life, it makes the whole situation better for me. This is also coming from a Stargate: Atlantis fan in which they made one of the lead characters (Teyla) pregnant because Rachel Luttrel was also pregnant. It's actually a kind thing to do because everyone knows, once you make someone pregnant, you run a lot of risks. So, many show execs write in a reason for the actress to leave the show until either her child has been born, or leave her out permanently. I've always seen that as kind of unfair. So, I like that they are being so accommodating.

On to the actual episode: I actually didn't have too much of a problem with it. While maybe predictable, I did like that there was more to Thorne than just an evil person. It was an odd story that had me slightly confused, but not all of them can be winners. Anyway, I thought it was sweet in terms of father/daughter relationships and... ouch. Carter no longer sheriff? Not good. I hate that we will have to wait so long to see the rest.

Speaking of which, anyone know when Eureka will be back?

Anyway, all in all, not my favorite, but not my least favorite either. They've certainly planted some risky seeds, but if they handle them right, I think it could be really good. Likewise, if they screw it up, they will fall hard. So, if nothing else, I'm interested to see if the writers really know what they're doing...

I thought this was a great episode because, as was said above, it was so dark. To me, one of the strengths of the show is how it balances comedy and drama seemlessly. Though, what happened to Zoe from that goo did dissapoint me. I was hoping for some crazy ass mutation or super powers... or something!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, all in all, I thought it was a good ep.

It also left me wondering how they will bring back Stark, seeing that Allison is his baby mama.

We shouldn't see him till the end of the Three series, if we look to the accountancy, he signed the agreement just for five epizodes... what I know...

any idea or information about next episode?

That clears up my question about Stark. Thanks! Also, I wanted to point out that although Thorne's motivation for being in Eureka was selfless, she still ruined a lot of people's lives by firing them. And, she did this with no conscience.

I'm pretty out of the loop with Eureka, so pardon me. Did I read correctly? Is Stark coming back?

I liked the episode once I finally saw it. And the thing with Allison being pregnant took me by surprise but I'm ok with it now that I know Salli's pregnant and that's why they wrote it in.

I kinda thought that maybe Thorne had been there but I really thought that it was her father or some relation and it was like family lore that she was correcting/erasing. Guess I was half right sorta.

Jack's been fired?! I so did not see that one coming. How will they return him to his position as Sheriff if the DoD doesn't want him there? Urgghhhh Guess we'll just have to wait till the new shows start again.

As for Stark coming back... Ed only signed up for five episodes this season. It sounded like he was moving on to some other project or projects so it's unlikely he'll be back. That's my two cents.

Let's see... they really shook things up those last few minutes, didn't they?

As far as Jack goes... well, obviously he can't leave Eureka, or there wouldn't be much show now would there?

Well, ways exist such that it could continue that way, but such a shakeup is rare on American TV. More likely either
A) they find a way to get him back in, or
B) he gets a new job

I doubt there's any other position for him in Eureka, so it'd have to be A. Some touching scene with the town rising up in support or whatnot. If played right, could be a Crowning Moment of Awesome.

Allison: Please use protection if your husband is not married to you. Thank you.
